This section gives you the opportunity to highlight your standout moments — the recognition you’ve earned along the way. Whether you’ve won a major competition, received a scholarship to a prestigious school, or earned a company contract early, this is your moment to shine.
Why It’s Important
Awards and scholarships demonstrate excellence, dedication, and often a high level of competitiveness. They show potential employers or schools that others have recognized your talent — which can strengthen your application and set you apart from other dancers.
Achievements outside of the studio are also valuable. Things like academic honors, creative projects, or leadership roles can show your character, discipline, and versatility.
What to Include
This section is flexible depending on your background. You can include:
Dance Competitions
(e.g., Prix de Lausanne finalist, YAGP Top 12, Tanzolymp winner)Scholarships & Grants
(e.g., Royal Ballet School Full Scholarship, Artistic Development Award)Professional Recognition
(e.g., Contract offers, festival invitations, choreographic awards)Academic & Creative Awards
(e.g., Valedictorian, choreography grants, writing awards)
If you’ve received recognition as a student or pre-professional, that’s still absolutely relevant — don’t leave it out just because it wasn’t recent!

Tips for Listing
Keep it concise and consistent. A bullet or line list is often best.
Include the year and any relevant level (junior/senior) or category.
List in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent.
No Awards Yet?
Don’t worry if you haven’t received any formal awards or scholarships yet. Every dancer’s path is different. Focus on the strength of your training, experience, and dedication — they matter just as much. As you grow, there will be plenty of time to add to this section.
Wrapping Up
Not every dancer has a long list of awards, and that’s okay. This section is about highlighting your strengths — however big or small. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished so far, and use this space to let your unique achievements speak for themselves.
