As you prepare to enjoy your holiday, take some time to reflect on your season. It’s important to process how your year went, whether with a cup of tea and a notepad or simply through mental reflection. Give yourself the space to evaluate your season.
As dancers, we often get caught up in the present and future goals, forgetting to look back at how far we’ve come, the obstacles we’ve overcome, and the achievements we’ve made. These accomplishments, both big and small, are worth acknowledging.
First, think about all the productions you’ve been a part of, the various repertoires you’ve learned, and the different teachers who have guided you.
Now, consider the hardships you’ve faced. Perhaps you sustained an injury and successfully recovered, or you’re still working through an injury. Maybe you were challenged by different styles of repertoire or even a completely new style.
To help with your reflection, I’ve created a downloadable worksheet. Write down your successes and thoughts, keep them so you can track your growth each year.
